What is the Difference between Data Fusion and Sensor Fusion?

 

   To jump into this question, lets define what data fusion and sensor fusion are. Data fusion means that there is a combination of two or more different pieces of data to create a new piece of data (fused data). Sensor fusion is to fuse the data from two or more sources, exclusively sensors, to make new data.

Image 2: Data Fusion uses multiple sources to fuse data. Sources can be from database, sensors or other.

    You might be wondering, What is the difference? The difference is the source of the data. Data fusion can use data that comes from the same source, where sensor fusion uses data from multiple sensors. It's a small difference, but it is different.
